For we are called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, bearing witness in all our dealings to the love and justice of our Lord.
Do you not know that our God is a God of compassion, who shows no partiality, and who has created all people in his image?
As it is written, “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).
The Lord has shown us the way of love and mercy, commanding us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to do to others as we would have them do to us.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, let us be diligent in our pursuit of justice and equity, reflecting the heart of God in our relations with one another.
For the Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love (Psalm 145:8).
He has commanded us to care for the least among us, to defend the cause of the poor and the oppressed, and to break every yoke of injustice.
In this spirit, let us strive to form a community that embodies God’s concern for justice.
Let us speak for those who have no voice, standing with those who are marginalized and oppressed, and resisting every form of discrimination and inequity.
As it is written, “Learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow” (Isaiah 1:17).
Beloved, let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Let us draw strength from the Lord and from the power of his might, knowing that our labor in the Lord is not in vain.
For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life (Ephesians 2:10).
Moreover, let us practice inclusiveness and empathy in all our efforts.
Let us open our hearts and minds to the varied experiences and perspectives of others, especially those who have long been silenced or pushed to the margins.
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2); be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).
In our pursuit of justice, let us also seek the wisdom from above, which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy (James 3:17).
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God (Matthew 5:9).
Finally, brothers and sisters, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power.
Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Now may the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, working among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
